FRIENDS OF ONTARIO AIRPORT

  • Friends of Ontario Airport Website

  • Ontario International Airport

The Friends of Ontario Airport is the first and oldest organization of its type in the world. Founded in 1963, the Friends was formed to promote the use and development of Ontario International Airport (ONT). This concept, to support a single air transportation center by individuals, business and civic leaders from throughout an airport's service area, had never been done before.

The Friends is a non-partisan nonsectarian organization that unites people from a wide spectrum of social and political diversity into an action group with a common bond dedicated to the development and growth of ONT for the benefit of all persons.

Among the Friends members are representatives from 39 communities in four counties. Such is the character of the organization that there are even members in Hawaii, Texas and other states. From elected officials and corporation executives to clerks and assemblyline workers, the Friends members possess an abiding interest in aviation. They are people who recognize the truly singular important role that air transportation plays in the life of individuals, the community and the nation in our modern society.

In the last 15 years, the Friends have taken a leadership role in informing citizens of the aviation services available at ONT, seeking additional air carrier service, advocating sound development plans, encouraging citizen support of their airport, and working with aviation industry officials toward the goal of making ONT one of the most convenient air transportation centers on the West Coast.

The Friends have sponsored such projects as the publication and distribution of flight schedules, position papers on airport development, airport information brochures, airport displays, a speakers bureau, and testimony at public meetings concerning ONT.

The Friends of ONT welcomes membership from all individuals and companies that share the organization's views on the essential need to support and promote the growth of ONT for the purpose of strengthening the air transportation system in Southern California.

Individual dues are $15 per year. Company and organization dues are $25 per year. For more information on joining the Friends of Ontario Airport, call (909) 975-5360.

Founded in 1984 as a program of Travelers Aid Society of Los Angeles, Travelers Aid of the Inland Empire is the leading agency in the city of Ontario providing assistance to stranded individuals and families. In 1992, Travelers Aid of the Inland Empire became an independent non-profit agency.

  • What Travelers Aid Does
  • The mission of Travelers Aid is to provide information and referral services at LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT) and to assist stranded travelers, reuniting them with their families and other resources.

To meet the goal of serving those in need, Travelers Aid provides comprehensive case management services to all of its clients. The philosophy of Travelers Aid is to work with people in crisis by developing a case plan aimed at reuniting them with their families and resources. Those seeking assistance are fully evaluated to determine their specific need and problems. A case aid then works with the individual(s) and follows through until those needs are met. Staff and volunteers from the community implement the following programs:

  • Crisis intervention and referral services are available for individuals and families who are stranded in the Inland Empire. Travelers Aid meets the need of individuals and families with acute transition problems.

  • Travel assistance is provided for individuals and families who are stranded in the Ontario, San Bernardino or Riverside area and have an appropriate support system at their destination.

  • Emergency services are available on those occasions where the need is great. Travelers Aid provides food, transportation and temporary lodging.

  • Information and referral services are provided to the traveling public at LA/Ontario International Airport.
