LAWA Environmental Overview
MISSION/PURPOSE
LAWA Environmental Services Division (ESD) provides environmental oversight to airport and other LAWA Division activities related to airport facility development, maintenance and aviation operations at all four City owned airports, including Los Angeles International (LAX), Ontario International (ONT), Van Nuys (VNY) and Palmdale (PMD) airports. ESD's oversight efforts are accomplished by assuring that these airport's activities are in compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations concerning airport plans, environmental regulations, air emissions, water pollution, hazardous materials, hazardous waste and wildlife biology issues. The Division performs Airport Environmental Protection and Permitting functions and is divided into four work sections, including:
- Water Quality;
- Hazardous Substances;
- Wildlife Management; and
- Air Quality
- Noise Management
