Beginning July 1, 2009 LAWA will initiate a new online flight tracking and aircraft noise complaint entry system called WebTrak. The existing AirportMonitor system will be discontinued, as will the existing online noise complaint entry form, and the new WebTrak system will be put in its place. Included with this new WebTrak system are tools to help you find information on operations that might have caused a disturbance. Online noise comment entry will now be fully integrated with this new system. As always, if you wish to submit a noise complaint by telephone, please call the airport’s Community Response Line at (800) 560-0010.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Air Support Division (LAPD ASD) has temporarily relocated their helicopter operations to their fixed wing base at Van Nuys Airport (VNY). The move was done to allow necessary reconstruction of LAPD ASD’s Helicopter facility at PiperTech in downtown Los Angeles. The construction will take approximately two to three months to complete. Residents around VNY can expect approximately ten more helicopter departures and ten more helicopter arrivals daily. LAPD Air Support personnel have been briefed regarding the existing Ingress and Egress routes at VNY. LAPD has assured the Airport that they have and will comply, as usual, with existing airport policies during this period of operation.
