VNY Welcomes New Operations
Christian Moreno, a veteran aviation industry professional, has been
appointed chief of Airport Operations at Van Nuys Airport (VNY). He brings a
passion for aviation, dedication to safety and nearly three decades of aviation
industry experience to this position.
In his new role, Moreno manages a team of Airport Operations personnel
responsible for conducting daily inspections of VNY’s facilities, including
runways, taxiways, hangars, buildings and fuel service locations. He also
provides increased support for the airport and its operations during
emergencies and other incidents.

For 28 years, Moreno has worked in the aviation industry, taking on a
variety of increasingly responsible roles within the airport community. He
began his career with Los Angeles World Airports in 2004 as an Airport
Superintendent of Operations and also held that position at VNY from 2011 to
2014. He also worked as terminal manager at the Tom Bradley International
Terminal at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), which was part of the
largest public works project in Los Angeles history.
Prior to joining LAWA, Moreno was employed for 13 years with a major
international carrier as manager of flight operations at LAX. He also served
for three years at Portland International Airport as airport operations supervisor.
Moreno holds an FAA private pilot certificate,
IFR-rated certificate and an FAA aircraft dispatcher license.
“I am excited to return to VNY in this role, and I am committed to
maintaining and operating the airport facilities safely, securely and
efficiently,” said Moreno.
