Airport Guide Dee Lewis’ Selfless Volunteer Efforts Took Her to Cambodia
Dee Lewis continues the efforts of her late husband Dick Lewis, and his goal to provide dental care to the world’s poor and underserved.
In February, VNY’s own Dee Lewis spent a week in Cambodia volunteering her time so that needy, deserving children could receive essential medical and dental services, truly changing their lives for the better. Together, Dee and her fellow volunteers provided 109 children with dental services and 194 people with medical attention.
Dee’s work was in service to the Dick Lewis Smiles Mobile Dental Clinic, a foundation set up to honor her late husband, a dentist who passed away in 2009.
These clinics have been conducted for more than four years and this year was the first time medical care was also offered. Both clinics are endowed by the Dick Lewis Fund, and the Shinta Mani Foundation is an essential part of making the clinics a success. The clinics are made possible by donations, and 100% of the money donated goes directly to the clinic.
