LOS ANGELES AIRPORT POLICE HOLD PROMOTIONAL CEREMONY

(Los Angeles, California – September 29, 2015) Los Angeles Airport Police promoted two new lieutenants and seven new sergeants during a promotional ceremony held today in the Samuel Greenberg Board Room at Los Angeles International Airport.

Lieutenants Troye Holmes and Dennis Lau, Sergeants Anan Chiang, Larry Hatfield, Norm Ino, Marcio Matsumoto, Miguel Morante, Rosalia Olguin and Pedro Uesugui took the Oath of Office, conducted by Los Angeles Airport Police Chief and Deputy Executive Director of Homeland Security Patrick Gannon.

Prior to the ceremony’s swearing-in Chief Gannon addressed the executive staff, family, friends and other police personnel and thanked them for “supporting the particular caliber of people who accept the challenge to serve the community and help make us better.

Lieutenant Holmes a 26 year veteran of the Airport Police, previously served as a Sergeant II in the Vulnerability and Assessment Unit. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Resources from California State University Long Beach and is currently enrolled at National University in the Master’s Degree program for Public Administration.
Lieutenant Lau is a 13 year veteran with the Airport Police currently assigned to Patrol Services Section, having previously served with the Dignitary Protection Unit and the Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit. Lt. Lau holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Union University and a Masters in Public Admin from CSU Northridge. Lt. Lau is also a commercial multi-engine pilot and aircraft instrument flight instructor.

Sergeant Chiang is a 9 year veteran of the Airport Police and has been assigned as a background investigator in the Professional Standards Section where she contributes to assessments and recommendations of prospective Airport Police candidates. Sgt. Chiang possesses a Bachelor of Arts Degree in East Asian Studies from Bryn Mawr College. Sgt. Chiang is a volunteer search and rescue K9 handler for Los Angeles Search Dogs and CA Rescue Dog Association.

Sergeant Hatfield is a 16 year veteran of the Airport Police. Prior to joining the Airport Police he served in the United States Navy for 11 years and was a civilian employee for the Los Angeles Police Department. His previous assignments include the Emergency Services Unit, Patrol Services Section, a field training and senior lead officer.

Sergeant Ino is a 13 year veteran of Airport Police. He has spent the last 9 years in a critical department function, a field training officer in the Patrol Services Section. Sgt. Ino is credited with exposing new officers to real world law enforcement situations and helping them become professional police officers dedicated to the safety and security of the traveling public. Sgt. Ino has completed multiple courses in criminal justice and holds an intermediate post certification.

Sergeant Matsumoto is a 9 year veteran of the Airport Police, serving as a field training officer then a police officer III in the Vulnerability Assessment and Analysis Unit. He earned a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Cal State University Northridge. He is the recipient of Wings of Achievement Award and received the Westchester Elks Lodge Outstanding Service Award and a Certificate of Commendation from the City of Los Angeles.

Sergeant Morante is a 16 year veteran of the Airport Police. He has previously been assigned to the Patrol Services Unit, Ground Transportation Enforcement Unit and the Motor Unit. Sgt. Morante received a department commendation for his role in research and development and the implementation of the Motor Unit. He has contributed to the motorcycle training program for new officers entering the motor unit as well as the policy and mission for the Motor Unit.

Sergeant Olguin has been with the Airport Police for 6 years having previously served as a field training officer and with the Vulnerability Assessment and Analysis Unit. Sgt. Olguin has a B.A. in Sociology with an emphasis in Criminology and Criminal Justice/ Minor in French from Cal State Northridge 2008, M.S. Emergency Management from Cal State Long Beach 2015, and is ACE certified in Airport Security through the American Association of Airport Executives.

Sergeant Uesugui is a 12 year veteran of the Airport Police. Before promoting to Sergeant he was previously assigned to the Patrol Services Section, Training and Recruitment Unit and Special Projects Section. He is also the PRND (Preventative Radiological/Nuclear Detection) Coordinator for the Airport Police. For 4 years, prior to joining the Airport Police, Sgt. Uesugui proudly served his Country in the United States Air Force.
