CHERYL PETERSEN APPOINTED AS NEW AIRPORTS COMMISSIONER

 

(LOS ANGELES – September 12, 2000) The Los Angeles City Council today confirmed Cheryl Petersen, a businesswoman, as the newest member of the Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners for a term ending June 30, 2002.

Petersen’s appointment completes the newly expanded seven-member Board that is led by President John J. Agoglia, a veteran broadcaster and consultant. She was nominated by Mayor Richard J. Riordan to serve as a commissioner after the recent resignation of Board vice president Patricia M. Schnegg who was appointed to the Los Angeles Superior Court. Petersen recently resigned from the Los Angeles Fire Commission after serving from May 1999 to August 2000.

Other airports commissioners include Miguel Contreras, Dr. Warren W. Valdry and the recently appointed Lee Kanon Alpert, Christopher C. Pak, and Mark Edward Schaffer. Alpert and Schaffer were appointed on August 8 and Pak was appointed July 14. Contreras was reappointed on July 14 for a term ending June 30, 2005.

Petersen has worked in a variety of management positions for Atlantic Richfield Company from 1980 to 1998, in which her duties included managing the capital structure and financial support for foreign subsidiaries, as well as foreign exchange planning and analysis.

She has also served on the board of directors of the Westwood Hills Property Association and as a member of Blue Ribbon of the Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County and the Los Angeles World Affairs Council.
