CONTRACT AWARDED FOR RESIDENTIAL SOUNDPROOFING IN VAN NUYS

Van Nuys, California - December 4, 2001) The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners tonight awarded AMD Construction Group, Inc. of Orange a contract for residential soundproofing in Van Nuys. The $1,100,450 contract will cover sound-insulation modifications on 69 single- and multi-family residences located in the noise-impacted area around Van Nuys Airport and in the City of Los Angeles Council Districts 2, 3 and 12.

This contract award brings the total number of homes completed or in the process of soundproofing construction in Van Nuys to 101. The residences are outfitted with dual-paned windows, solid-core doors, attic insulation, and other necessary soundproofing improvements.

The Van Nuys noise mitigation program includes nearly 1,200 residences in the Van Nuys area with a recorded community Noise Equivalency Level (CNEL) of 65 decibels or higher.
