LOS ANGELES WORLD AIRPORTS APPOINTS JOYCE SLOSS AS SMALL BUSINESS AND JOBS OPPORTUNITIES CHIEF

(Los Angeles, CA – March 29, 2001) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has appointed Joyce Sloss chief of its Small Business and Jobs Opportunities Division. The division was established in 1999 to strengthen the agency’s commitment to issues of concern to local businesses and airport tenants.

LAWA’s Small Business and Jobs Opportunities Division provides small businesses, job seekers, youth and young adults with improved access to business and job opportunities with LAWA and other airport-related businesses and government agencies.

Joyce Sloss has worked in the City of Los Angeles Office of Administrative and Research Services (OARS) for 11 years. Most recently she was acting chief administrative analyst. During her tenure with OARS, she assisted the Mayor’s Office in establishing the Los Angeles Opportunities for Procurement Services (LA OPS), which is the city’s small business outreach program for contracting opportunities.

"We are excited about Joyce joining the LAWA team with her wealth of skills and abilities," said LAWA Director of Airports Administration William Bruce. "I have had the pleasure to work with her in her previous position and have found her to be a superb and very capable individual."

Sloss earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from St. John’s University in New York City. She resides in South Pasadena with her family.
