LAX HOSTS 33 AREA HIGH SCHOOL JOB SHADOW STUDENTS

(Los Angeles, CA – February 15, 2001) Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) today is hosting 33 high school "Job Shadow" students from schools near the airport.

The program matches students from Inglewood Unified, Centinela Valley, and Lynwood Unified School Districts with employees from different divisions at LAX including administration, airfield operations, airport police, environmental management, information technology, procurement, project management/engineering, community relations, residential acquisition, and residential soundproofing.

"We want to expose these students to the many career opportunities in aviation and city government," said Los Angeles World Airports Executive Director, Lydia Kennard. "We are delighted to host a program that both encourages and furthers the experience of youth, because these students are our future."

This "Job Shadow" activity is part of the Inglewood/Airport Chamber of Commerce Annual Youth Business and Industry Job Shadow Day.
