MEDIA ADVISORY -- LAX AIRPORT SOUTH EXIT, SEPULVEDA TUNNEL LANE CLOSURE HOURS RESUMED

 

WHAT: Construction crews will close traffic lanes in the Sepulveda Tunnel, adjacent to Los Angeles International Airport, Mondays through Thursdays and Saturdays beginning this weekend. The closure hours will affect the north and southbound lanes of the tunnel and the airport’s upper and lower level Sepulveda Boulevard southbound exits. Detours will be placed to minimize any disruption of traffic flow. The work is to install new lighting in the tunnel.

 

WHEN: There are three periods of lane closures, depending on the day of the week. These are:

 

  1. Saturdaysthrough the month of March, beginning January 13, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.,one lane northbound and one lane southbound through the tunnel.
  2. Mondays though Thursdaysthrough the month of April, beginning January 15 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.,two lanes northbound and two lanes southbound through the tunnel; andsouthbound Sepulveda Boulevard exits on the upper (departure) and lower (arrivals) levels.

     

  3. Mondays through Thursdaysthrough the month of April, from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.one lane northbound and southbound through the tunnel,and thesouthbound Sepulveda Boulevard exit on the upper (departure) level.

     

Southbound exiting airport traffic will detour east to Century Boulevard and then south on Aviation Boulevard.
