Airport Police Officers To Carry U.S. Flag Through LAX Central Terminal Area To Honor New York Port Authority Police Colleagues Who Died at World Trade Center; Part of Cross-Country Flag Run to Raise Funds for Victims

 

WHAT: Los Angeles International Airport Police Officers will officially carry the U.S. flag through the Central Terminal Area to Dockweiler Beach when the "Flag Across America" cross-country fund-raising run reaches LAX and its terminus at Dockweiler Beach. Airport-wide employees are expected to line the route through the Central Terminal Area. Flag run originated in Boston.

WHY: In honor of friends and colleagues of New York Port Authority Police Department, who died in the World Trade Center terrorist attack.

WHEN: Sunday, November 11, 2001 between 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm

WHERE: LAX Central Terminal Area Upper/Departure Level Roadway --
U.S. flag will be passed to LAX Airport Police officers at intersection of Manchester and Sepulveda Boulevards. Route continues southbound Sepulveda, east on Westchester Parkway, south on Airport Boulevard, west on Century Boulevard through Central Terminal Area Upper/Departure Level, south on Sepulveda Boulevard through Sepulveda Tunnel, west on Imperial Highway to Dockweiler Beach.

MEDIA PARKING: Television and radio broadcast-equipped vans may park terminal curbside on Upper/Departure Level Roadway in the following designated media locations: between Terminals 1 and 2; between Terminal 3 and Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT); between TBIT and Terminal 4 (American); and far east end of Terminal 7 (United)Upper Level terminal curbside can only be accessed by media through police checkpoint at 96th Street Bridge. Do NOT leave vehicles unattended. All other media may park for free in metered parking slots in Parking Structures 1, 2A and 7; or pay for regular parking in the structures.
