SIX MORE PUBLIC HEARINGS ON LAX MASTER PLAN TO BE HELD BEGINNING OCTOBER 30
(Los Angeles, California -- September 25, 2001) At the request of Los Angeles Mayor James K. Hahn, the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Master Plan comment period has been extended to November 9, 2001, and six additional public hearings have been planned around the region, beginning Tuesday, October 30, with a hearing in Monterey Park.
"Due to the recent tragedy to our nation, our six scheduled public hearings in September for the LAX Master Plan were cancelled. At the request of Mayor James K. Hahn, we plan to hold six additional public hearings and to extend the public comment period to November 9, 2001, 5 p.m. Pacific Standard Time," said Lydia H. Kennard, executive director of Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA). LAWA is the city agency that operates LAX and three other airports in the region: Ontario International, Palmdale Regional and Van Nuys.

No decisions about the LAX Master Plan will be made at the hearings. Individuals who cannot attend the public hearings can submit their views in writing to the Federal Aviation Administration or LAWA through 5 p.m. PST, November 9, 2001.
