NEW LAX CONCESSION CAPTURES FIRST TRUE AMERICAN TRAVEL EXPERIENCE – ROAD TRIPS

(Los Angeles – June 6, 2001) Summer is often a time to think of road trips. At Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), passengers can experience road travel ambiance and California-style grub at "The L.A. Roadhouse – Route 66, " a full-service restaurant that opened today in Terminal 8 (United Airlines).

L.A. Roadhouse – Route 66 harkens visitors to a time when everyone traveled by car. A 1950’s gas pump is located by the front doors, walls are decorated with desert-side road maps, and the ceiling has a classic tin roof. Passengers can select from a menu of Southern California food while listening to blues and rock ‘n roll tunes.

"Los Angeles World Airports offers a wide spectrum of concessions that reflects the diversity of Los Angeles and Southern California," said Ramon Olivares, chief of LAWA Concessions Management Division. "It is our goal to provide passengers with plenty of choices in eateries that can enhance their travel experience at LAX."

"The L.A. Roadhouse appeals to everyone – from the frequent business traveler to a family on vacation," said Bruce Fish, general manager of HMSHost (Host International). "What better way to set the mood for travel than at a place called ‘Route 66’ – which was once a major highway in America?"

The L.A. Roadhouse - Route 66 is one of four new concessions scheduled to open this summer in Terminal 8. In addition, a new 1,680-square-foot foodcourt at the south end of the terminal will contain Boudin Sourdough Bakery (freshly baked breads, sandwiches, soups, and salads), Gordon Biersch Microbrewery, and Starbucks Coffee.
