BACKGROUND : | jetBlue Airways - an east coast-based airline that flies a new fleet of Airbus 320 airplanes equipped with in-flight satellite television at every seat, wider seats, and bigger overhead bins - launched new daily nonstop service between JFK and ONT on July 21, 2000. jetBlue's flights from JFK depart at 8:15 p.m., arriving at ONT at 10:45 P.M. From ONT, the "red eye" flights depart daily at 11:30 P.M., arriving at JFK at 7:40 a.m. the following day.
ONT is located approximately 35 miles east of Los Angeles and is part of LAWA's four-airport system, which includes Los Angeles International, Van Nuys, and Palmdale Regional Airports. The additional JFK to ONT service further advances ONT's role in Southern California's regional air transportation system.
