CONTRACT AWARDED FOR RESIDENTIAL SOUNDPROOFING IN VAN NUYS

(Van Nuys, California - August 20, 2002) The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today awarded AMD Construction Group, Inc., City of Orange, a contract for residential soundproofing in Van Nuys. The $472,450 contract will cover sound-insulation modifications on 30 single and multi-family residences located in the noise-impacted area around Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles Council Districts 6 and 12.

This contract award brings the total number of homes completed or in the process of soundproofing construction in Van Nuys to 130. The residences are outfitted with dual-paned windows, solid-core doors, attic insulation and other necessary soundproofing improvements.

The Van Nuys noise mitigation program includes nearly 1,200 residences in the Van Nuys Airport area with a recorded Community Noise Equivalency Level (CNEL) of 65 decibels or higher.
