FLYAWAY PARKING GREATLY REDUCED DURING IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

(Van Nuys, CA)- Construction of an improved FlyAway Bus Terminal, which began last month, has temporarily reduced parking capacity at the facility by more than 50 percent. As a result, the main parking lot located at the northeast corner of Woodley Avenue and Saticoy Street is full almost daily. With an increase in the number of passengers expected on Memorial Day weekend and throughout the summer, travelers should plan to be dropped off at the terminal.

"Fortunately, the parking lot’s reduced capacity is temporary, and the FlyAway’s bus service will remain intact during improvements," said Van Nuys Airport Manager Selena Birk.

To avoid delays and traffic congestion, travelers should observe these suggestions:

• Arrange to be dropped off at the FlyAway terminal whenever possible.
• The parking fee is $4 per day, and the maximum 15-day time limit for parked vehicles will be

strictly enforced.

• Travelers are strongly advised to call (818) 994-5554 to find out if the lot is full before coming to

the terminal.

• Allow extra time for possible delays due to traffic congestion and baggage check-in at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

• For short-term passenger and disabled parking/drop-off, travelers can use an area established across the street from the terminal on the northwest corner of Woodley Avenue and Saticoy Street.

In the near future, the entrance to the main parking lot will shift from Woodley Avenue to Saticoy Street. There will also be a short-term parking area available for disabled drop-off adjacent to the terminal on the east side of the building.

After the project’s completion in mid-2004, the new terminal will be a spacious, modern building with a pleasant and attractive atmosphere. Enhancements include more amenities and concessions, a community meeting room, ATMs, larger restrooms, new landscaping with street trees and wider sidewalks and more short- and long-term parking spaces than the original facility.

The Van Nuys FlyAway bus terminal, located on the northeast corner of Woodley Avenue and Saticoy Street, provides fast, scheduled transportation between Van Nuys and LAX. Low-cost roundtrip fares are $6 for adults (ages 13 and up) and $3.50 for children (ages 2 through 12). Children under age 2 are free. For more information, call (818) 994-5554.
