CONTRACT AWARDED FOR RESIDENTIAL SOUNDPROOFING IN COUNCIL DISTRICT 8

(Los Angeles, California – April 18, 2005) The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today awarded NSA Construction Group of Tarzana a contract for residential soundproofing. The contract, totaling $838.000, will cover sound-insulation modifications on a total of 33 single and multi-family residences located within the noise-impacted area of Council District 8.

This contract award brings the total number of homes completed or in the process of soundproofing construction to 4,347. The residences will be retrofitted with dual-paned windows, solid-core doors, attic insulation, and other necessary soundproofing modifications.

The noise mitigation program includes nearly 9,000 residences in the Los Angeles communities of Westchester, Playa del Rey and South Los Angeles with a recorded community Noise Equivalency Level (CNEL) of 65 decibels or higher.

The program is administered by Los Angeles World Airports' Residential Soundproofing Bureau. A community office at 8939 South Sepulveda Boulevard in Westchester is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
