LOS ANGELES AIRPORT POLICE SWEARS IN ELEVEN NEW OFFICERS

 

(Los Angeles, California – October 11, 2006) Eleven recruits are joining the ranks of the Los Angeles Airport Police following their recent graduation from Rio Hondo Police Academy in Whittier.

Los Angeles World Airports Executive Deputy Director James T. Butts and Los Angeles Airport Police Acting Chief Brian A. Walker attended their graduation to perform the swearing-in ceremony. The new officers are Siwon Lee, Edwin Wu, Francis Sur, Alesha Hawkins, Julio Aparicio, Thang Pham, Ivan Rojas, Rito Torres, Jin Shin, Omar Vasquez and Patrice Phyall.

The next step for the officers is to complete a 6 month Field Training program. During the training program new officers will be assigned to a Field Training Officer (FTO) before they are released and assigned to the Patrol Services Section.

Los Angeles Airport Police is the fourth largest law enforcement agency in Los Angeles County, with more than 900 law enforcement, security and staff personnel. Airport Police is a division of Los Angeles World Airports, the City department that owns and operates four airports in Southern California: Los Angeles International, Ontario International, Palmdale Regional and Van Nuys (general aviation).
