LOS ANGELES WORLD AIRPORTS NAMES RALPH MORONES
DIRECTOR OF CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE
(Los Angeles, California – Sept. 15, 2006) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has announced the appointment of Ralph Morones as Director of Construction and Maintenance. Morones brings over 33 years of experience with the City of Los Angeles and will lead an organization with over 1,300 employees in 95 job classifications.
Morones has served as Director of Airports Maintenance at Ontario International Airport (ONT) since May 2000 where he was responsible for an annual budget of $22 Million including 122 service and material contracts. He directed the activities of 192 employees, through 5 subordinate supervisors, engaging in all aspects of building, airfield, grounds fleet maintenance and custodial activities.
Morones began his city career by working at the Department of Water and Power for 10 years as an instrument mechanic. He transferred to LAX, working there for seven years before becoming a Customer Service Center supervisor at Public Works Department for seven years. Morones returned to LAX in 1997 and quickly promoted to airport maintenance superintendent. In May 2000 he promoted to Director of Airports Maintenance at ONT.
In 2000, Morones attended the University of Texas, at Austin, to study Airports Pavement. He studied Controls Technology at Long Beach City College from 1980 to 1982, and attended Los Angeles Harbor Junior College from 1973 to 1974.
