LOS ANGELES CONVENTION CENTER LAUNCHES ON-SITE BAGGAGE CHECK AND AIRLINE BOARDING PASS ISSUANCE SERVICE
Los Angeles, California -- September 13, 2006— The Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC) today launched an innovative on-site baggage check-in and airline boarding pass issuance service. Convention Center clients may now check-in airline baggage to their domestic destination and receive their airline boarding pass, all while on-site at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
"By affording our convention center guests the ability to check-in baggage and receive their boarding passes prior to arrival at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), convention center guests have more time to take advantage of all that Los Angeles has to offer," commented Pouria Abbassi, Interim General Manager, Los Angeles Convention Center.
"The possibilities for remote airline and baggage check-in are limitless," said Lydia Kennard, executive director of Los Angeles World Airports. "We are excited the Los Angeles Convention Center is the newest location to offer remote check-in that includes our FlyAway nonstop bus service from Van Nuys. In addition, our Union Station FlyAway will begin service Sept. 18, with the cruise ships at the Port of Los Angeles starting Sept. 24. LAX, together with the convention center, is making travel quicker, safer and secure."
"This service exemplifies one of several new programs designed to enhance the experience and productivity of clients attending events at the Los Angeles Convention Center," said Phillip Hill, Asst. General Manager, Los Angeles Convention Center.
Launched Sept. 8 by the Los Angeles World Airports at the Van Nuys Flyaway Terminal, expansion of the remote airline and baggage check-in process will speed passenger movement through LAX, allow seamless check-in of baggage, and in general improve the airport experience for the traveling public.
Initially, the service is available on domestic flights operated by American, American Eagle, Alaska, Continental, Delta, Horizon, Northwest, Ted, United, and United Express/Skywest airlines. Additional airlines are expected to join the program soon.
