CONTRACT AWARDED FOR RESIDENTIAL SOUNDPROOFING NEAR LAX

(Los Angeles, California - August 21, 2006) The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today awarded a contract to Professional Building Contractors, Inc., of El Segundo for a portion of the LAX Residential Soundproofing Program. The $895,070 contract covers sound insulation modifications on 52 dwelling units comprised of one single-family residence, one 9-unit apartment building, six duplexes and 30 condominium units located in Los Angeles City Council District 11.

The overall LAX Residential Soundproofing Program includes more than 8,200 residences in the Los Angeles communities of Westchester, Playa del Rey and South Los Angeles with a recorded Community Noise Equivalent Level (CNEL) of 65 decibels or higher. Contractors install double-paned windows, solid-core doors and attic insulation to achieve a noise level reduction of approximately one-half in a home’s interior.

The 52 dwelling units in this project will bring the number of total units to date, either completed or under construction, to 5,121.

The program is administered by the Los Angeles World Airports Residential Soundproofing Bureau. A community office at 8939 South Sepulveda Boulevard in Westchester is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Residents may call (310) 646-7444 for further information.
