WESTCHESTER ELKS CLUB RECOGNIZES TOMMY E. SCOTT WITH ITS POLICE OFFICER OF THE YEAR AWARD

 

(Los Angeles, California – March 7, 2006) Los Angeles Airport Police Officer Tommy Edward Scott who gave his life while protecting the aviation community and doing a job he truly loved was honored with an Outstanding Service to the Community Award by the Westchester Elks Lodge.

Scott was slain last April 29 while on patrol during an altercation with a suspect. Scott was a four year veteran of the Los Angeles Airport Police.

Curt Curtiss, a member of the Westchester Elks Lodge, presented Hubert Scott, Tommy Scott’s father, with the award Feb. 21 during a Board of Airport Commissioners meeting at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

The Westchester Elks Lodge each year recognizes officers from law enforcement agencies in the airport area for their outstanding service to the community. As the 2005 recipient, Scott’s name was added to the Westchester Elks plaque honoring previous officers.

Scott’s father also accepted for his son Certificates of Special Recognition from U.S. Representative Maxine Waters. Los Angeles City Councilman Bill Rosendahl presented Scott’s father with an Officer of the Year Award.
