LA/PALMDALE REGIONAL AIRPORT SERVES 10,000TH PASSENGER
LA/Palmdale Regional Airport (PMD) officials today welcomed PMD’s 10,000th passenger, Ann Cottrell of Quartz Hill, Calif., on United Airlines Flight 6456 departing from PMD to San Francisco International Airport (SFO) at 11:48 a.m.
“I am pleased LA/Palmdale has reached the 10,000-passenger milestone in the first six months of the new jet service,” said Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. “As more travelers find the advantages of flying to and from the Antelope Valley, LA/Palmdale will account for an ever-increasing share of Southern California’s air service market. This is important as we move toward a truly regional solution to meeting demand for air travel in the 21st century.”
“I would like to encourage all of our residents to follow 10,000th passenger Ann Cottrell’s lead and support our local airport,” said Palmdale Mayor Jim Ledford. “This in turn will have a positive economic impact on our entire region.”
United Airlines began non-stop jet service to SFO on June 7, 2007. United is one of the world’s largest airlines and is a member of the Star Alliance, serving worldwide destinations.
“It is a milestone to serve our 10,000th customer today,” said Bob Gluck, PMD airport manager. “Enthusiasm for the new service is high with passengers discovering the great convenience of using this airport.”
PMD offers comfortable and fast regional jet service twice daily to SFO, no Passenger Facility Charges added to ticket prices for PMD departures, plenty of free secured parking within steps of the terminal, security screening wait time is less than five minutes, available T-Mobile WiFi service, Hertz car rental in the terminal, and most importantly, convenient connecting flights at SFO to major destinations around the world provided by United and its Star Alliance partner airlines.
PMD is located on a 60-acre site at U.S. Air Force Plant 42. It is approximately 60 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles off State Route 14. PMD is one of four airports owned and operated by LAWA, a City of Los Angelesdepartment that also owns and operates Los Angeles International, LA/Ontario International and Van Nuys airports.
