MANDATORY PRE-SUBMITTAL MEETING SCHEDULED FOR POTENTIAL BIDDERS ON LAWA SECURITY TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION PROJECT

(Los Angeles, California – October 30, 2007) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has scheduled a mandatory pre-submittal meeting to inform experienced technology firms about its Security Technology Integration (STI) project.  Interested firms experienced in design, development and integration of airport information technology security systems, are invited to respond to the STI Request for Qualifications (RFQ).  Information about the RFQ is posted at www.labavn.org . .

The meeting will be held Monday, Nov. 5 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Tuskegee Room of the Proud Bird restaurant, located at 11022 Aviation Boulevard inLos Angeles.  During the meeting, LAWA representatives will provide additional information, further clarify RFQ requirements,  and further explain LAWA’s administrative contract requirements.

The goal of this undertaking is to modernize LAWA’s security system, address new federal regulations, and build a comprehensive integrated security system for use at its four airports.

This RFQ effort amends and replaces a previously disseminated LAWA Security System  (LSS) Request for Proposals.  Instead, it focuses on the selection of a firm or team of firms that can provide design and implementation of software, hardware and system integration solutions to meet LAWA’s functional and operational needs.

Officials said new technology, new direction in security policies, and the anticipated receipt of federal funding mandates this new direction for the project.

LAWA will be using the latest available technology in this project in order to create an environment that further enhances the safety, security, communications and operations of staff, tenants, travelers and visitors at its airports.

When completed, the system will possess such features as access control and alarm monitoring, digital surveillance, digital video intelligence and management, an integrated police dispatch system, and other related functions and features.

Firms desiring to send representatives to the meeting should call LAWA’s Business and Job Resources Division at (310) 342-1422 no later than Friday, Nov. 2 to confirm attendance.

LAWA, a department of the City of Los Angeles,  owns and operates four airports in Southern California: Los Angeles International (LAX), LA/Ontario International (ONT), LA/Palmdale Regional (PMD) and Van Nuys (VNY).
