TRAFFIC DELAYS EXPECTED NEAR LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
(Los Angeles, California – August 25, 2007) This is a reminder that airline passengers and airport workers are advised to expect some traffic delays and allot extra time driving to and from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) during this weekend, August 25 and 26, due to commercial film production continuing from last weekend on Interstate 105 (I-105 Century Freeway) and Imperial Highway near the airport.
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and the Los Angeles Department of Transportation have announced the following freeway and street closures for this weekend:
• Eastbound Century Freeway (I-105)
From 3 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. and from 7 p.m. until midnight – Full freeway closures of eastbound I-105 between Sepulveda Boulevard and La Cienega Boulevard, and the I-105 connectors to I-405.
(During the periods of closure of the eastbound I-105 on-ramps near the intersections of Imperial Highway and Sepulveda Boulevard and at Imperial Highway and Nash Street, both the upper and lower level roadway ramps exiting the LAX passenger terminal area to southbound Sepulveda Boulevard will be closed. Motorists exiting the passenger terminal area will be directed to use eastbound Century Boulevard to southbound Aviation Boulevard to reach the eastbound I-105 on-ramp or to continue southbound to reach the coastal communities.)
• Westbound Century Freeway (I-105) 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. – Westbound I-105 between I-405 and Sepulveda Boulevard, as well as the I-405 connector to westbound I-105 will remain open with intermittent traffic breaks.
• Imperial Highway From 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. -- Full closures of eastbound and westbound Imperial Highway between La Cienega Boulevard and Aviation Boulevard
(During the four-hour closure of both directions of Imperial Highway, eastbound and westbound I-105, and the on-ramps to eastbound I-105 at the intersections of Sepulveda Boulevard and Imperial Highway and at Imperial Highway and Nash Street, will be open. Los Angeles City traffic officers and signage will provide directions to motorists for using alternative routes during the Imperial Highway closure.
