LA/PALMDALE REGIONAL AIRPORT ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO FLIGHT SCHEDULE
(Palmdale, California -- July 12, 2007) Commercial airline jet service at LA/Palmdale Regional Airport (PMD) will get a schedule change effective September 5 to enable customers to more easily connect with flights to the east coast.
Based on feedback from travelers, travel agents and companies in the Antelope Valley/High Desert, United Airlines will re-time its flights to provide more connecting flight opportunities at San Francisco International Airport (SFO).
“We're pleased United has responded to feedback from business travelers who want an early morning departure from LA/Palmdale so they can take advantage of a vast number of connecting flights at SFO," said Mark Thorpe, director of the Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Air Service Development Division.
The first flight will depart PMD at 6 a.m. and will connect with a large bank of flights from SFO that serve a number of major east coast markets including Atlanta, Boston, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C., ensuring travelers reach their destinations by late afternoon or early evening. The second departure will leave at 11:47 a.m., connecting with many international flights and additional domestic flights. The new schedule makes it convenient for inbound passengers coming to PMD to choose from additional connecting flights, allowing more flexibility in their travel plans.
"We are also pleased that the new flight schedule will enable Antelope Valley/High Desert residents to fly to SFO in the morning, have a full business day in San Francisco and return that evening," said Thorpe.

All flights from Palmdale use United Airlines' regional jets. The estimated flying time is only 50 minutes. Also, the jets fly at normal jet altitudes, reducing turbulence. Since United Airlines is part of the global Star Alliance program, members can earn and redeem frequent flier miles by using partners such as US Airways and many international carriers including Air Canada, Air New Zealand, Lufthansa, Singapore, and Thai Airways.
Customers are finding value in PMD because traveling to other Los Angeles area airports can take up to four hours during peak rush-hour times. LA/Palmdale is ideal for frequent business travelers in the aerospace industry including military research and development and manufacturing operations coming from cities throughout the United States. There are thousands of visitors each month from the United States Air Force and NASA, as well as major defense contractors such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Boeing, Raytheon and Space Age Control.

United Airlines initiated twice-daily regional jet service between PMD and SFO on June 7, where travelers can connect to hundreds of daily flights around the world. The new United flights represent the first scheduled commercial service by a major airline at the airport in nine years and the first-ever jet service at PMD.
PMD is one of four airports owned and operated by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), a city of Los Angeles department that also owns and operates Los Angeles International, LA/Ontario International and Van Nuys airports.
