LAX TO PURCHASE ADDITIONAL FIVE ALTERNATIVE FUEL VEHICLES

(Los Angeles, California – June 4, 2007) The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today approved the purchase of five alternative-fuel vehicles as part of Los Angeles World Airports’ (LAWA’s) ongoing Alternative-Fuel Vehicles Program.

The five gas-electric hybrid vehicles will be purchased for $137,549 from Burch Ford of La Habra.

The vehicles are being purchased for use by LAWA’s Information Technology Services Operations Division, whose staff will be able to more readily respond to and serve the different LAWA divisions and airports requiring its assistance.

LAWA officials believe that alternative-fuel vehicles are important elements in meeting California’s future energy needs and plans are underway to convert all of LAWA’s fleet to alternative-fuel use.

LAWA currently has more than 600 alternative-fuel vehicles, or more than 60 percent of its fleet, powered by liquefied natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, compressed natural gas, electricity, solar power and hydrogen fuel cell.

Los Angeles World Airports is a City department that owns and operates four Southern California airports: Los Angeles International, LA/Ontario International, LA/Palmdale Regional and Van Nuys.
