UNITED AIRLINES CONTINUES LOW FARES FOR FLIGHTS FROM LA/PALMDALE REGIONAL AIRPORT

 

(Palmdale, Calif. - May 23, 2007)  Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) and City of Palmdale officials hailed the decision by United Airlines to continue offering low-fare tickets for travel from LA/Palmdale Regional Airport (PMD).

Nonstop scheduled service by United starts June 7 with two daily roundtrip jet flights between PMD and San Francisco International Airport where travelers can connect to dozens of domestic and international destinations. San Francisco is one of the top markets from PMD and the Southern California region.

“We are pleased United is making it attractive for travelers in the HighDesertto experience the convenience and money-saving advantages of LA/Palmdale Regional Airport,” said Samson Mengistu, LAWA’s acting executive director. “LA/Palmdale will offer free parking, and a stress-free environment for airport check-in and security screening.”

Palmdale Mayor Jim Ledford added, "It is obvious that United Airlines is serious about having a presence in the AntelopeValley and we appreciate their on-going efforts to provide jet air service with fares that are comparable to other airports in the region.  We are very excited and optimistic about the new jet service coming to LA/Palmdale.”

PMD newly named airport manager, Robert Gluck, said, “Community response to the new United service has been encouraging.  We are particularly gratified by the show of support we see from the travel industry that includes travel agencies, hotels, rental car companies, and taxicab and limousine operators.”
