EXPRESSJET SERVICE BEGINS AT LA/ONTARIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
(Ontario, Calif., -- April 2, 2007) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) announces the beginning of ExpressJet Airlines nonstop service to 14 new destinations from LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT).
The rollout of ExpressJet flights starts today at Terminal 2. The new flights will result in a 25-percent increase in daily departures at ONT, a 50 percent increase in total destinations and a 63-percent increase in the number of nonstop destinations available from ONT.
“The introduction of ExpressJet flights marks the largest expansion of air service in the airport’s 84-year history and is a major step toward realizing our vision for a regional approach to air travel,” said Alan Rothenberg, president of the Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners. “The ExpressJet flights also enhance LA/Ontario’s status as the preferred alternate airport in Southern California.”
By May 14, ExpressJet will offer 29 daily nonstop flights to Albuquerque, N.M., Austin, Texas, Boise, Idaho, Colorado Springs, Colo., El Paso, Texas, Fresno, Calif., Kansas City, M.O., Monterey, Calif., Omaha, Neb., Oklahoma City, San Antonio, Spokane, Wash., Tucson, Ariz., and Tulsa, Okla.
“Today we see Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s drive for a regional approach to meeting air travel demand in Southern California becoming a reality as plans for increasing air service at LA/Ontario International Airport comes to fruition,” said ONT Airport Manager Jess Romo. “We are pleased with the addition of ExpressJet Airlines. The number of cities passengers can reach by a direct flight has doubled.”

ExpressJet’s operations at ONT is expected to create more than 600 direct jobs for the local economy, including pilots, flight attendants, aircraft mechanics, ramp workers, and passenger service personnel.
