HORIZON AIR ANNOUNCES NEW SERVICE BETWEEN LAX AND PRESCOTT, AZ
PRESCOTT— Horizon Air announced June 9 that it will offer new nonstop service between Prescott, Ariz., and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) once daily starting Sept. 8.
"Say goodbye to the long drive and missed connections at another airport and say hello to a relaxing, affordable Horizon Air flight from your hometown airport to Los Angeles," said Dan Russo, Horizon’s director of marketing and communications. "The world is one less flight connection away. For visitors from around the world, the new one-stop connection through LAX will also make getting to Prescott for business or pleasure much easier."
The flight from Prescott will originate in Flagstaff. Starting June 23, Horizon will offer two nonstop flights between Flagstaff and LAX. Starting Sept. 8, the morning flight from Flagstaff will make a brief stop in Prescott and then continue nonstop to Los Angeles. The return flight will take the opposite route in the evening, stopping in Prescott before terminating in Flagstaff.
Known as "Everybody's Home Town," the Greater Prescott region is a rapidly growing area consisting of unique cities and towns and more than 200,000 residents. Steeped in Old West history, Prescott is widely known as the birthplace of professional rodeo and each summer attracts thousands to the week-long World’s Oldest Rodeo ®. The million-acre Prescott National Forest, mountain lakes and a mild climate make the area ideal for year-round outdoor recreation. The city is also home to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's second largest residential campus.
"The entire Prescott region is excited to have nonstop air travel opportunities to the Los Angeles Basin," said Jane Bristol economic development director for Prescott. "Horizon Air and Alaska Airlines have a deep commitment to customer service that will be valued by our residents and businesses."
"I am delighted that Horizon Air will soon be providing roundtrip service to Los Angeles," said Prescott Mayor Jack D. Wilson. "This new connection is eagerly awaited by our businesses that travel to California. We also expect increased tourism from residents of California as well as a more convenient route from Prescott-area residents vacationing in California."
With Horizon’s new flight, travelers from Prescott will gain an easier way to travel to Southern California. Additionally, they’ll gain easy connections to more than 30 destinations coast to coast on Alaska and Horizon as well as access to hundreds of destinations around the world with partner airlines through LAX. Similarly, the service is expected to boost tourism to the area by facilitating inbound travel from a wide variety of national and international airlines that fly into LAX.
Horizon’s flight to Prescott will be operated with the airline’s Bombardier Q400s. This 74/76-seat, high-speed, twin-engine turboprop is one of the most technologically advanced regional aircraft in the world. It’s as quiet and comfortable as a jet
– thanks to its special technology that suppresses noise and vibration, its generously sized overhead storage bins, its unobstructed under-seat space, and its ample headroom (6 feet, 5 inches). The Q400 is also among the most environmentally friendly aircraft today, burning 30 percent less fuel and producing 30 percent lower emissions than comparable jets.Horizon Air’s daily flight schedule from Flagstaff and Prescott to Los Angeles
