NEW LAX CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS WEBSITE PROVIDES UP-TO-THE- MINUTE CONSTRUCTION ALERTS

(Los Angeles, California – December, 14 2010)  Los Angeles World Airports has launched a new website http://www.laxdevelopment.org/to keep the public informed about the major capital improvement programs underway at Los AngelesInternationalAirport (LAX).

This new website provides regular updates on projects, including the $1.5- billion Bradley West Project, installation of more Runway Status Lights, and the Elevator and Escalator Refurbishment Program.   The site also hosts two “Earthcam” cameras which automatically take images of Bradley West construction from different angles and vantages every day.  These images are searchable by date and time archived.  The images in the archive date back to last February.

The website is designed to keep travelers, airport workers and area residents apprised of what to expect from the extensive modernization at LAX.  In addition, the site includes the latest traffic and passenger alerts to make navigating through LAX easier during construction.

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is the seventh busiest airport in the world, offering more than 565 daily flights to 81 destinations in the U.S. and over 1,000 weekly nonstop flights to 65 international destinations on over 75 carriers. LAX is part of a system of three Southern California airports – along with LA/Ontario International and Van Nuys general aviation – that are owned and operated by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), a department of the City of Los Angeles.
