DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS APPOINTED AT LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

 

            (Los Angeles, California – December 10, 2010)  Barry Rondinella has been appointed Director for Airport Operations at Los AngelesInternationalAirport (LAX).  

           Rondinella has management responsibility for the new Airport Response Coordination Center, as well as day-to-day activities of Airside Operations and Landside Operations.  This includes responsibility for airfield and terminal operations;  roadways; LAX Customer Service Program; and supervision of duty managers, gate control and emergency response.

            Rondinella comes to LAX from the Sacramento County Airport System where he served as Deputy Director of Operations and was responsible for all facets of that airport’s safety, security and operations functions.  Prior to Sacramento he served as Airport Director of the Stockton Metropolitan Airport and the Santa Maria Public Airport.

            Rondinella holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Administration from California State University, Los Angeles.  He is an Accredited Airport Executive as certified by the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), of which he is a past president of the South West Chapter. He is also a Certified Airport Executive of AAAE. 

            Rondinella holds a commercial pilot‘s license and has logged hundreds of hours in high-performance, multi-engine jet aircraft.

            LAX is the seventh busiest airport in the world, offering more than 565 daily flights to 81 destinations in the U.S. and over 1,000 weekly nonstop flights to 65 international destinations on over 75 carriers.  LAX is part of a system of three Southern California airports – along with LA/Ontario International and Van Nuys general aviation – that are owned and operated by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), a department of the City of Los Angeles.
