JULY ISSUE OF LAX CONNECTION E-NEWSLETTER NOW AVAILABLE

E-newsletter is now available online at http://www.lawa.org/connectionLAX.aspx The newsletter provides information to the public and the travel-tourism industry about Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) passenger services and new air service.

          This month’s issue features the Santa Monica City Council dropping taxi rates to LAX; the I-405 San Diego freeway closure July16-17 having a minimal impact on LAX ; LAX Westwood FlyAway changing rates to $10; Delta Airlines begins LAX-Oakland Service Aug. 1; Turkish Airlines adding a fifth daily flight and being named Europe’s best airline; Allegiant Air starting service from LAX to Idaho Falls Nov. 17; JetBlue launching “Even More Speed” program at LAX; and Malaysia Airlines banning infants from First Class.

LAX is the seventh busiest airport in the world and third in the United States, offering more than 565 daily flights to 81 domestic cities and over 1,000 weekly nonstop flights to 65 international destinations on over 75 carriers.  In 2010, LAX served over 59 million passengers, processed over 1.9 million tons of air cargo valued at nearly $77 billion, and handled 575,835 aircraft operations (landings and takeoffs).  LAX is part of a system of three Southern California airports – along with LA/Ontario International and Van Nuys general aviation – that are owned and operated by Los Angeles World Airports, a proprietary department of the City of Los Angeles that receives no funding from the City’s general fund.
