LAX CELL PHONE WAITING LOT MOVES TO MORE CONVENIENT LOCATION

Motorists picking up arriving passengers at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) can now wait for free in a more conveniently located Cell Phone Waiting Lot at the intersection of 96th Street and Vicksburg Avenue in Westchester.  The new lot, which officially opens Friday, April 29, is adjacent to the southwest corner of LAX Economy Parking Lot C and one-quarter mile from the 96th Street Bridge entrance into LAX’s passenger terminal area.  The lot has 25 vehicle spaces, with room for additional spaces as demand grows.  Motorists using the LAX Cell Phone Waiting Lot must remain with their vehicles at all times while they wait until arriving passengers call to say they are ready to be picked up terminal curbside.

The new location is well-lit and visible to drivers of the many Los Angeles Airport Police, LAX shuttle buses, shuttle vans, taxis, limosines and privately-owned vehicles that pass by 24 hours a day, seven days a week -- thereby enhancing the safety of waiting motorists.

The new lot replaces the current 79-space cell phone waiting lot at 9011 Airport Boulevard, which opened in 2004 and is used by an average 10 vehicles hourly.  While signage at this lot will direct motorists to the new location, motorists will be allowed to continue using this lot for the next few weeks until improvements begin on the property so that it can repurposed.
