LOS ANGELES AIRPORT POLICE SWEARS IN NEW POLICE OFFICER

(Los Angeles, California – April 27, 2011)  A new police officer joined the ranks of the Los Angeles Airport Police following graduation from the Los Angeles Police Academy near downtown Los Angeles on April 22, 2011.

Los Angeles Airport Police Chief George R. Centeno attended the graduation for Officer Carly Oliver and performed the swearing-in ceremony.  Assistant Chiefs Brian Walker and Michael Hyams, as well as Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Board of Airports Commissioners President Michael A. Lawson, were also present.  Officer Oliver was selected to be part of the Color Guard during the ceremony by her academy peers and navigated through the academy process with extreme focus and ease.

 “It is an honor to have another graduate from the Los AngelesPoliceAcademy join our Airport Police family,” said Chief Centeno.

The next step for Officer Oliver is to complete a six-month Field Training Program.  During this training, she will be assigned to a Field Training Officer (FTO) before she is released and assigned to the Patrol Services Section. 

The Los Angeles Airport Police Division is the fourth largest law enforcement agency in Los AngelesCounty with more than 1,200 law enforcement, security and staff personnel.  Airport Police is a division of Los Angeles World Airports, the City department that owns and operates three airports in Southern California:  Los Angeles International (LAX), LA/Ontario International (ONT) and Van Nuys (general aviation).
