GUIDING CONCEPTS AND PRINCIPLES FOR POTENTIAL DIVESTITURE OF LA/ONTARIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

ONTARIO, CALIFORNIA (December 17, 2012) --- The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners (BOAC) today approved a resolution establishing guiding concepts and principles for the potential divestiture of LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT).

On October 10, 2012, the Los Angeles City Council instructed the City Administrative Officer to facilitate negotiations between Los Angeles World Airport (LAWA), the City of Ontario, County of San Bernardino, Ontario International Airport Authority (OIAA), and other primary stakeholders to determine the most effective and appropriate ownership and management alternative for ONT and the assigned value of that alternative. The Council also instructed LAWA to develop a set of guiding principles to assist with analyzing and pursuing alternative management and governance structures.

The BOAC has not, to date, endorsed any sale of ONT but favors actions consistent with the recommendations of the LA City Administrator’s Office and City Council.

“The guiding concepts and principles are an initial roadmap for the terms of divesting ONT,” said Gina Marie Lindsey, LAWA’s Executive Director.  “It’s a solid place to start.”

The resolution outlines requirements for the future stewardship of ONT, protection of LAWA’s financial interests and City of LA employees at ONT, incremental steps to the sale process, issues to be addressed in the LOI, and monthly updates to the BOAC.  A copy of the guiding concepts and principles can be found at:
