(Los Angeles, California – May 17, 2012)  The Los Angeles Department of Public Works, Bureau of Street Services Resurfacing and Reconstruction Division informed officials at Los Angeles International Airport of intermittent and full closures of the westbound and eastbound Century Boulevard lanes between La Cienega Boulevard and Aviation Boulevard beginning Friday May 18 at 10:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. May 19, and then again from 10:00 p.m. that same evening to 10:00 a.m. Sunday May 20. The closures will take place for liquid asphalt pouring and resurfacing of Century Boulevard traffic lanes.

Passengers, visitors and workers traveling to/from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) should add extra time to their drive to LAX to ensure they catch their departing flights.  Traffic headed to LAX on westbound Century Boulevard will be diverted to westbound 104th Street.   Motorists are advised to try and avoid the area by taking alternate routes as driving through the project site may possibly damage vehicles.

            Alternate routes: 

  • Motorist coming from south I-405 can take Westbound I-105 freeway to northbound Sepulveda Boulevard onto Upper/Departures and Lower/Arrivals roadways.  (Please note: Eastbound I-105 will be closed Sunday May 20 from 12 noon to 8:00 p.m. for commercial filming.  Motorists wanting to access the I-105 will be able to do so via south I-405 as Century Boulevard will be open by this time.)
  • Lincoln Boulevard to southbound Sepulveda Boulevard to 96th Street Bridge onto Upper/Departures and Lower/Arrivals roadways
  • Motorist coming from north I-405 can exit Howard Hughes Parkway and take Southbound Sepulveda Boulevard to westbound “Little Century” Boulevard (adjacent to Park One) onto Lower/Arrivals roadway only

            Traffic exiting the airport on the Upper/Departures Level roadway and Lower/Arrivals roadway can take southbound Sepulveda Boulevard to reach the I-105 and northbound Sepulveda Boulevard to Howard Hughes Parkway for access to the northbound I-405

            While flight operations are expected to be normal, passengers are advised to check with their airlines to ensure their flights are on time before coming to the airport.
