TRAIN/PLANE PARTNERSHIP ENCOURAGES MORE USE OF PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

(Los Angeles, California – April 27, 2012)  Los Angeles World Airports and Metrolink, Southern California’s commuter rail provider, are partnering to encourage travelers to take public transportation to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

Beginning April 30, 2012 Metrolink Monthly Pass holders with an airline boarding pass for that day can take the LAX FlyAway® bus service between Los Angeles Union Station and LAX at no additional charge.

This accommodation can save riders $14 round-trip on the LAX FlyAway® service, as well as additional costs for fuel and parking that they would have incurred had they driven to the airport.

Later this year, Metrolink will begin selling LAX FlyAway® tickets via their vending machines throughout Southern California.  Since Metrolink’s vending machines accept cash, LAX FlyAway® passengers will have another payment option that is currently not available to them.

All LAX FlyAway® buses drop off passengers on the Upper/Departures Level in front of each terminal at LAX.  Passengers board buses at LAX on the Lower/Arrivals Level curbside in front of each terminal under the green “FlyAway®. Buses and Long Distance Vans” sign.
