LAWA STATEMENT: L.A. County Coroner Statement on TSA Officer Gerardo Hernandez

Autopsy results of TSA Officer Gerardo Hernandez, referred to in a statement released today by the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner, serve as a reminder that in the aftermath of his tragic death, it is important to refrain from drawing conclusions until all of the facts are known.

Officer Hernandez lost his life when targeted by alleged gunman Paul Ciancia at LAX on November 1, 2013.

Numerous investigations and inquiries into the incident and response are underway.  An After Action Workgroup is rigorously analyzing all aspects of the multidiscipline response.  The findings of that Workgroup will provide the best perspective from which to draw conclusions, make recommendations, or take other corrective action.

Once the Workgroup has completed its report, its key findings will be released to the extent permissible under State and Federal law.  We continue to ask for the public's patience as we move through this process.
