ONE-WAY FLYAWAY BUS FARE BETWEEN LAX AND UNION STATION RISES TO $8

The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today authorized an increase in passenger fare from $7 to $8 for the FlyAway® bus service between downtown Union Station and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).  The increase goes into effect in Spring 2014.

Airport officials said the fare increase seeks to recover the full cost of FlyAway® service between LAX and Union Station.  Between July 1 and October 31, 2013, the bus service transported 184,704 passengers and incurred a deficit of $156,233.  Assuming this rate of loss continues, the deficit will be approximately $500,000 by the end of this fiscal year, June 30, 2014.

The LAX FlyAway® service operates from Bus Stop 9 at Patsaouras Transit Plaza at Union Station.  The FlyAway® ticket kiosk is located on the south end of the plaza opposite Bus Stop 9.

The LAX FlyAway® bus service accepts American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa debit or credit cards for ticket purchases.  Cash is not accepted.  Cash and credit cards may be used only to purchase FlyAway® tickets from the Metrolink ticket vending machines for service on the Union Station FlyAway® route.  On-line ticketing is available for Union Station  at https://efleet.digital-dispatch.com/bauerslax/ .
