MEDIA DISPLAY CONTENT IN TOM BRADLEY INTERNATIONAL TERMINAL NAMED ‘BEST IN SHOW’ BY LOCAL AMERICAN ADVERTISING FEDERATION CHAPTER
(Los Angeles, California – March 3, 2014) The American Advertising Federation’s (AAF) local Los Angeles affiliate, AdPros LA, honored Digital Kitchen (DK) yesterday with “Best in Show” and the “Gold Award: Out of Home, Interior” for the video displays airing on the Integrated Environmental Media System (IEMS) inside Los Angeles International Airport’s (LAX) Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT).
The American Advertising Federation’s Awards, also known as “The ADDYs”, are considered the advertising industry’s largest and most representative awards, attracting over 50,000 entries every year in the more than 200 local AAF affiliates. Winners from the local clubs then compete at the district level, with winners from the district competition advancing to the national level. AdPros LA, a group of creative and advertising professionals affiliated with AAF, held the annual local-level competition in Los Angeles Sunday. Awards were distributed during the American Advertising Federation’s American Advertising Award Presentation Reception for the Northern Los Angeles Chapter at the Tournament Players Golf Course in Valencia.
By winning the Gold Award, DK is now automatically entered into the district competition, which comprises the Southern California and Las Vegas region. In total, there are 15 regional groups whose winners advance to the national finals.
“This award is a tremendous honor and a true testament to the quality of work on display throughout the New Tom Bradley International Terminal,” Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Executive Director Gina Marie Lindsey said. “The IEMS system in TBIT is one of the largest digital environments ever built, and with the fantastic work of Digital Kitchen and this meaningful recognition by the American Advertising Federation, we can also say that its content quality is first-class.”
"The team at DK is thrilled that our partnership with Los AngelesWorldAirportsand many talented partners has been recognized by our creative peers. We hope travelers in Los Angeles continue to be surprised and delighted by the engaging content in the Bradley International Terminal,” said Erica Coates, head of production, Digital Kitchen Los Angeles.
DK worked as a member of the IEMS Team that created the iconic features at the New Tom Bradley International Terminal, which included: MRA International, Project Director; Sardi Design, Media Feature Designer and Creative Director; Smart Monkeys Inc., Systems Designer & Technical Consultant; Moment Factory, Executive Content Producer; and Electronic, Systems Integrator. Fentress Architects was the designer of the Terminal and supported the integration of the features. Daktronics Corporation produced the LED displays for the features.
The IEMS at TBIT includes seven architecturally-scaled media features built within the fabric of the new terminal’s architecture, with each feature designed to enhance a particular aspect of the passenger departure or arrival experience. The IEMS is the first media system to synchronize multiple features through a state-of-the-art, content management system that creates an integrated environmental experience based on intelligence from live data, including flight departure and arrival information, and passenger interactions. Comprising over 12,000 square feet of Light Emitting Diode (LED) tiles, hundreds of Liquid-Crystal-Display (LCD) screens, and some 60 ultra-high-resolution multimedia productions totaling more than four hours of original content, the IEMS sets a new global standard for airport media systems.
