LAWA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR APPOINTED TO BOARD OF FEDERAL RESERVE BANK OF SAN FRANCISCO'S LOS ANGELES BRANCH
Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Executive Director Gina Marie Lindsey has been appointed to the Los Angeles Branch Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. The appointment, for the term ending December 31, 2015, became effective on January 1.
The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco was established in 1914 under the Federal Reserve Act and is subject to the general oversight and supervision of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, in Washington, D.C. The San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank is governed by a nine-member board of directors. Each of its four branches, in Los Angeles, Portland, Salt Lake City and Seattle, has a separate seven-member branch board.
The Board of Directors provides the region’s economic perspective to the Federal Reserve Bank’s Board of Directors in San Francisco.
Lindsey, with over two decades of experience in airport management and a record of success in renovating and expanding international airports, was appointed LAWA Executive Director in June 2007. With oversight of three airports, Los Angeles International (LAX), LA/Ontario International (ONT) and Van Nuys (VNY) airports, Lindsey’s responsibilities include management of the largest public works project in the history of the City of Los Angeles.
More than $7-billion for capital improvement expenditures through Fiscal Year 2019 at LAX is positively impacting passenger safety, and security, while enhancing the overall customer experience at all of the airports terminals. The centerpiece of the modernization is the New Tom Bradley International Terminal, which opened to the public in September 2013. Additional projects include a new Central Utility Plant, major renovations to LAX’s other terminals, upgraded passenger lounges, dining and retail options, a new Firefighting Station, runway status lights and new taxiways and taxi lanes.
Before joining LAWA, Lindsey was executive vice president of McBee Strategic Consulting, LLC, a government relations and aviation consulting firm in Washington, D.C. Prior to that post, she was managing director of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac) where she was responsible for operations, maintenance and strategic and financial planning of the airport, which serves more than 33 million passengers a year.
Under Lindsey’s guidance, Sea-Tac took on a $3 billion, seven-year capital improvement project, including the construction of a new runway, demolition and reconstruction of a concourse and major refurbishments.
Lindsey also served as director of aviation for Anchorage International Airport, where she managed the airport’s transition from an international passenger refueling stop to an international cargo hub for Federal Express and United Parcel Service. Prior to managing airports, she worked for the Alaska Department of Transportation on surface transportation issues.
