ONT PASSENGER VOLUME UP OVER FIRST HALF OF THE YEAR

(Ontario, California – July 29 , 2014)   Passenger numbers at LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT) show an increase of 1.81 percent from January 2014 through June 2104, compared to the same period last year.  ONT airlines served2,002,789 traveler s the first half of 2014 compared to 1,967,223 travelers during the same period in 2013.

International traffic is up significantly from Jan. 2014 through June 2014 at 65.3 percent , which is being helped by Volaris, a new Mexican carrier at ONT that started twice weekly service in mid-April and plans to launch a third flight in September . Volaris, as well as AeroMexico, provide nonstop service between ONT and Guadalajara, Mexico.

“We continue to see encouraging signs, and we will watch the traffic numbers for the remainder of the year,” said ONT airport manager, Jess Romo .   The slight uptick can be attributed to  passenger increases even as the number of available seats are lower than last year at this time.  June alone reflected an increase of over 5.8 percent compared to  June 2013.  Carriers are flying more efficiently with higher load factors , which positive ly impact their bottom line.   We are very  excited about the notable increase in international traffic .

ONT is located in the Inland Empire, approximately 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles in the center of Southern California. It is a medium-hub, full-service airport with direct commercial jet service to 14 major U.S. cities and connecting service to many domestic and international destinations. There are approximately 60 daily flights offered by 8 air carriers.
