LA/Ontario International Airport January Passenger Volume Down 0.21%
(Ontario, California – February 27, 2015 ) Passenger activity at LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT) was down slightly at 0.21% in January. ONT airlines served 313,347 travelers compared to 314,022 travelers in January 2014.
“January through March is typically a slow period so the slight decrease was not a surprise,” said Jess Romo, Airport Manager. “The winter storms on the east coast may have also been a factor.”
International traffic continues to grow with International carriers, AeroMexico and Volaris, serving 11,213 passengers, a 51.5% percent increase over January 2014. Both provide a total of seven nonstop flights each week between ONT and Guadalajara, Mexico.
“International traffic continues on a good path,” added Romo. “We expect a new destination this spring, which we hope will further increase international passenger numbers.”
ONT is located in the Inland Empire, approximately 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles in the center of Southern California. It is a medium-hub, full-service airport with direct commercial jet service to 14 major U.S. cities and connecting service to many domestic and international destinations. There are approximately 60 daily flights offered by 8 air carriers.
