-- TRAFFIC ADVISORY --

ROAD RESTRIPING AT AN ENTRANCE TO LAX TO CAUSE NIGHTLY LANE CLOSURES FROM MIDNIGHT TO 6 A.M. BEGINNING TUESDAY, DECEMBER 8 THROUGH FRIDAY,

DECEMBER 11, 2015

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) officials advise motorists that road restriping will cause nightly lane closures on the 96th Street Bridge, Sky Way, and the southbound Sepulveda Ramp beginning TONIGHT, Tuesday, December 8 through Friday, December 11, 2015.  Restriping work and lane closures will occur between 12 midnight to 6 a.m. for the next four early-morning periods.  These streets comprise one of the four ingresses/egresses to the LAX Central Terminal Area.

On Tuesday, December 8 from 12 midnight to 6 a.m., access to LAX via the 96th Street Bridge and Sky Way will be reduced to one lane in each direction.

On Wednesday, December 9 and Thursday, December 10 from 12 midnight to 6 a.m. each morning, the southbound Sepulveda Boulevard ramp (Sepulveda Ramp) leading into LAX will be closed.  During the ramp closure, the following detours are suggested:

  • To reach the Lower/Arrivals Level, continue south on Sepulveda Boulevard and turn west onto Little Century, which leads into the Central Terminal Area
  • To reach the Upper/Departures Level, continue south on Sepulveda Boulevard, turn west onto Little Century, which leads into the Central Terminal Area.  In front of the Tom Bradley International Terminal, turn east up the Center Way ramp to reach the upper level roadway

The temporary lane closures are part of the LAX Runway Safety Area Program to comply with federal government requirements that all U.S. airports improve the Runway Safety Area zones located at the ends of their runways.  Improvements are currently being made to Runway 6 Right/24Left on the north airfield.
