TRAFFIC ADVISORY: METRO CONSTRUCTION MAY IMPACT TRAFFIC NEAR LAX

(Los Angeles, California – May 4, 2015)  Officials at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) are advising motorists that Metro’s construction activity near the airport may impact traffic.

Metro will begin implementing intermittent nightly closures for four weeks, beginning Tuesday, April 5, along with two full weekend closures (and the possibility of a third, if needed) for eastbound and westbound traffic on Imperial Highway at Aviation Boulevard.  On weeknights, Mondays through Thursdays, work begins at 9 p.m. and ends at 6 a.m.  On the weekends of May 15 and May 29, if needed on June 5, work will begin from Friday at 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday.  Westbound Imperial Highway will be open nightly and during weekend closures, when possible.

The closures are necessary for the implementation of the column construction and related work for a bridge across Imperial Highway from the existing Metro Green Line station.

The westbound detour will be:  southbound on Aviation Boulevard, to westbound on El Segundo Boulevard, then northbound on Douglas Street to westbound on Imperial Highway.

The eastbound detour will be: southbound on Douglas Street, eastbound on El Segundo Boulevard, northbound on Aviation Boulevard and eastbound on Imperial Highway.

The bus stops located on the southwest corner of Imperial Highway and Aviation Boulevard will be temporarily relocated nearby.
