AVIATION BOULEVARD BETWEEN 120th STREET AND IMPERIAL HIGHWAY WILL CLOSE THIS WEEKEND FOR METRO RAIL CONSTRUCTION
O fficials at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) are advising motorists that Metro Rail construction activity this weekend will result in a full street closure of all northbound and southbound lanes of Aviation Boulevard between 120th Street and Imperial Highway beginning 9 p.m. tonight through 6 a.m. on Monday, April 18, 2016. Aviation Boulevard is a major north-south route in the airport area. Imperial Highway will remain open.
Metro construction contractors will perform work related to the Metro Rail Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project, which will connect Metro’s Green and Expo rail lines.
During the closure, the following detours are suggested:
- To continue south on Aviation Boulevard, turn left onto eastbound Imperial Highway, turn right onto southbound La Cienega Boulevard, turn right onto westbound 120th Street, and turn left onto Aviation Boulevard.
- To continue north on Aviation Boulevard, turn right onto eastbound 120th Street, turn left onto northbound La Cienega Boulevard, turn left onto westbound Imperial Highway, and turn right onto Aviation Boulevard.
Metro also announced there will be no Metro Rail Green Line train service into the LAX/Aviation Station on Saturday and Sunday, April 16 and 17, starting at 4 a.m. until the end of regular service each day. Train service will run between the Redondo Beach and Mariposa stations and between the Hawthorne/Lennox and Norwalk stations only. Free shuttle buses will transport riders from either the Mariposa or Hawthorne/Lennox stations to the LAX/Aviation Station.
