FLYAWAY® BUS STOP RETURNS TO RENOVATED PATSAOURAS BUS PLAZA FOLLOWING END OF CONSTRUCTION; NEW PICK-UP/DROP-OFF FACILITY OPENS
(Los Angeles, California – October 7, 2016) The FlyAway® bus stop at Union Station will return to its original location on the Patsaouras Bus Plaza on October 10. The return follows the completion of Metro’s major rehabilitation work to the plaza, which began in early July.
Private vehicles are no longer permitted to enter the bus plaza, but can use a new passenger pick-up/drop-off facility located east of the renovated plaza. The new facility was designed to remove private vehicle traffic from the bus plaza, thus creating a safer area for passenger pick-ups and drop-offs away from bus traffic within the plaza. FlyAway® bus customers can enter the new passenger pick-up/drop-off facility by entering the underground parking lots from Vignes Street.
The Union Station stop for the FlyAway® bus to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will operate on its regular schedule: every 30 minutes from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.; hourly between 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.; and every 20 minutes between 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on weekdays. The regular weekend schedule is every 30 minutes from 5:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. and hourly between 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. The nonstop bus service to/from LAX is $9 one way. Two children age five and under may ride free with each paying adult. Parking in the Union Station garage is $8 per day, with a 30-day limit.
In addition to Union Station, the FlyAway® bus provides direct service to LAX from five other locations across Los Angeles County: Hollywood, Long Beach, Metro Orange Line (San Fernando Valley), Van Nuys, and Westwood. More than 1.6 million people used the FlyAway® bus in 2015.
