MORE THAN 400 PROSPECTIVE CONTRACTORS ATTEND FIRST-EVER LAX INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY FORUM
(Los Angeles, California – September 20, 2016) More than 400 current and potential future contractors attended the first “LAX Connect: IT Industry Forum” conducted by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) this afternoon to help raise awareness of the many opportunities for Information Technology service, software and equipment providers to work with LAWA at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
Held at the Renaissance Los Angeles Airport Hotel, the forum included presentations on the LAX Guest Experience Initiative and contracting opportunities with LAWA’s Information Management and Technology Group (IMTG).
The Procurement Services Division outlined requirements for doing business with LAWA, while the Business & Jobs Resources Division provided information on bond assistance and the First Source Hiring Program.
Attendees received tips on how to prepare submissions to upcoming Requests For Proposals, including approximately 14 future contracting opportunities – six of which are expected to be advertised within the next six months on the Los Angeles Business Assistance Virtual Network at LABAVN.org.
Airport officials also presented information about the future vision for Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and how social media, mobile, guest-experience systems, security, and other technologies will be used.
“Technology will continue to play an increasing role as we work to build the airport of the future and improve the guest experience at LAX,” said LAWA Chief Executive Officer Deborah Flint. “Investment in more technologies that will lead to improved operations on the airfield and landside, enhanced security, and improved passenger experience is essential. The strong attendance at today’s forum shows how much interest there is in being part of LAX’s future.”
In addition to Flint, forum attendees heard from LAWA Deputy Executive Director-Chief Innovation & Technology Officer Justin Erbacci and LAWA Deputy Executive Director-Chief Information Officer Aura Moore.

This activity added $6.2 billion to local and state revenues and $8.7 billion in federal tax revenues. The study also reported that LAX’s ongoing capital-improvement program creates an additional 121,640 annual jobs with labor income of $7.6 billion and economic output of $20.3 billion, $966 million in state and local taxes, and $1.6 billion in federal tax revenues.
